Wave energy converters are an alternative way to generate pollution-free electricity.
World governments have been developing plans to curb greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the changes being caused by a warming Earth. To that end, one of the largest initiatives is to transition our global energy infrastructure away from the predominantly fossil fuel reliant stalwart to one rich in renewable’s & alternatives.
One such renewable being developed are wave energy converters. They work by converting the kinetic (mechanical) energy carried in waves into electrical energy and, depending on their design, is accomplished in a number of ways. They function primarily by allowing the converter to move with the wave, causing a series of mechanical actuators to operate pumps & motors within which are connected to generators.
The technology for these pollution-free devices already exists, meaning implementation can be immediate. Additionally, there are low operating costs once installed, thereby providing many seaside communities with reliable, sustainable electricity for years to come.
The Coalition for Responsible Equitable Economic Development (CREED LA) proudly supports environmentally-responsible construction projects throughout Los Angeles that not only have a positive impact on the local community, but support LA’s working families as well.
CREED LA fights to ensure that developers pay fair wages to all the hard working construction professionals throughout the industry while simultaneously providing them with quality health care, continued training, and trustworthy retirement plans.
