Net-Zero energy building techniques are trickling into the California housing sector.

Eager students have been invited to “take the ball and run with it” by teachers as a means of continuing learning that had previously taken place. The enthusiasm seen by the teacher helps spur student research at accelerated rates compared to less eager individuals.

The same can be said with respect to the concept of net-zero energy buildings. Such construction ideologies & techniques have been gaining traction recently and their inherent benefits have trickled-down to the housing sector. In fact, a report published by the Net-Zero Energy Coalition saw the number of single family and multi-family units built to such specifications grow from approximately 5,500 units in 2015 to 8,200 units in 2016, an increase of 33%. These homes are expected to prevent the release of approximately 78,000 tons of CO2 annually. While California currently leads the way nationwide, other states and urban areas are eager to take the ball and run with it!
