If there’s one thing the United States (and many other developed nations) have an abundance of, it’s abandoned buildings and infrastructure. A myriad of reasons caused these once valued construction & engineering projects to fall into a state of disuse or disrepair, but they have nonetheless lost their usefulness within our society.

Or have they?

In our quest to promote sustainability, the practice of repurposing abandoned development projects has given a new lease on life to venues that would otherwise decay into ruins.

Among the most popular, and most successful, thus far are “Rails to Trails” parks, and they are exactly what they sound like… Disused railroad lines are being converted into places that provide a tranquil escape from the typical urban environment. A standout project in NYC known as The High Line attracts nearly 5 million visitors annually, making such projects commercially viable for city councils or conservation organizations to undertake.

The Coalition for Responsible Equitable Economic Development (CREED LA) proudly supports environmentally-responsible construction projects throughout Los Angeles that not only have a positive impact on the local community, but support LA’s working families as well.

CREED LA fights to ensure that developers pay fair wages to all the hard working construction professionals throughout the industry while simultaneously providing them with quality health care, continued training, and trustworthy retirement plans.
